I remember the car wash being fun when I was little. Granted, the last time I visited the car wash here in town it did seem a little overwhelming, but I figured that was because I had gotten older. So today Kai and I started off our errands by heading to the car wash. Poor kid! What I thought would be a fun experience was actually quite terrifying for him. He wailed and wailed and tried to get out of his carseat all while screaming "mom mom" (his newest iteration of my title). Since you can't switch seats while in the car wash, all I could do was reach back and try to soothe him as best as I could by talking and stroking his head. As soon as we were out of there, I pulled into a parking lot and got him out for some soothing time. And then he didn't want to get back in his seat.
The lesson learned today: Go to the carwash by myself next time.
