The Loot and The Scoop

So, Tuesday night went fabulously with the Binky Fairy. Kai went right to bed and slept through the night. I was so excited and very proud of him. On Wednesday morning, Kai woke up to some new toys. The first thing he said when I got him out of the crib was "Momma.....(mumble mumble) binkys!" The fairy brought him a Lightning McQueen car, a Mater with some of Chick Hicks pit crew, a new book for his LeapPad, and some Elmo bath toys. He loved his new toys!!

I was concerned about nap time, but we were out on Wednesday morning and so he fell asleep in the car. And Wednesday night was ok. He talked about his binkys but went to bed with little problems. Thursday was when it all started to come apart.

Nap time was very difficult. Lots of talking and stalling and additional requests. He was having a hard time calming down. And then bedtime that night involved 15 minutes of crying. I felt bad. What's been interesting is that he never actually complains about not having the binkys. He always says that his binkys went to the fairy because he's too old to suck on them. But then he asks for milk, lullabys, more stories, food, etc. Whatever he can think of to procrastinate going to bed. Our worst moment came at naptime on Friday. Putting him down took an hour! It was like dealing with an overtired infant all over again. Uggghhh!

Hopefully given time, things will get better. And it's better to do it now than later. We're just taking it one day at a time. The poor kid is beyond tired most of the time as he is losing some valuable sleep. And his naps have become shorter because he can't soothe himself back down if he wakes up in the middle. I'm hoping we beat this soon. In the meantime, he might not be at church today. To go to church he'll have to take an early nap and I'm not sure I'll be able to get him to do that. But we'll try. You never know.

reading your post helps me know that I'm not the only one that struggles with sleep! we've been struggling with Savannah's sleep for a few months now (not because of a binky, but who knows why). it drives me nuts sometimes! but know that it WILL get better. but it's hard when you are so pregnant as well. I hope he is getting a little better each day. good luck!!
