Finn turned 4 years old on the 17th. In many ways, I feel like I missed out on him being 3. I guess we started saying he was almost 4 right about the time Kai turned 6, so it seems as if he really was already 4. I will admit that 3 is not my favorite age. Being 4 was a very good thing for Kai, so I'm hoping we'll see the same for Finn. Either way, Finn was certainly excited to have a birthday. He had been looking forward to it for months. Since Kai had the day off of school, we had Reid take off, too, and we enjoyed some good family time.
In the morning, we tested to see how fast 4 year-olds can run, how high they can jump, and how big their muscles are. It turns out that 4 year-old really are faster and stronger! Finn loved it!
In the afternoon we headed out to Wishing Star Farm. We last went to this pumpkin patch in 2011, and it had since moved locations. It was a bit farther out than I was expecting, but it was still a fun place. The boys both got to pick out a pumpkin and ride a pony, in addition to the other fun things they had there. It was a fun afternoon and a perfect day weather-wise for it. We bundled up expecting to be cold (it was in the 30's at our house), but found it to be almost 60 outside. We had friends who went to the other pumpkin patch that was closer but north instead of south and they were cold. So we were quite lucky!

That puddle under them made me nervous admittedly. There is a bacteria that grows in standing water that can cause severe lung damage if it takes up residence in Finn's lungs. Of course, there is standing water everywhere, but still, if he can avoid it..... |

This donkey brayed quite loudly for us a couple of times. |

There were dogs roaming everywhere. |

Finn's first pony ride |

Go figure--he was scared to touch a goat but he loved riding the pony. I think it's because of the word "ride". |

This is how Bree and I started the adventure. |

This is where Bree eventually ended. It was too hard to take pictures while carrying her and it was getting hot. |

He finally touched the baby goat named Pumpkin |
After the pumpkin patch we returned home with a stop at the Wendy's drive-thru. After eating our dinner, a friend from the ward stopped by to drop off the cake we had asked her to make. She went above and beyond and made such an awesome cake for him. We enjoyed eating our cake and then opening presents. It was a great day and we were happy to celebrate 4 years with Finn. We hope to celebrate many, many more!
