I can't believe I am 7 weeks behind. There are some slight technical problems that I can use as an excuse as for why I am behind here. There is also the fact that it has been just plain busy around here. Not a running around kind of busy, but more of a slow steady pace kind of busy. So, when I say we've been busy, I actually can say that I haven't been super stressed. Just plugging away at all of the holiday tasks.
The first several weeks of November went by pretty fast. We had planned on driving to Chicago for the Thanksgiving break and so I spent those weeks getting ready for the drive. I planned all kinds of travel fun for the kids, hoping that it wouldn't be our last road trip ever. So there were several shopping trips during those weeks as well as lots of house cleaning.
The boys did not have school on the 10th and so we had a playgroup trip to the Air Force Academy for ice skating. We had a great turnout with about 10 families from the ward, which meant a whole lot of kids. The boys had a great time, although I still wasn't able to convince them to try without the walkers. What surprised me most was that Bree insisted on skating. During our July trip I had tried the smallest skates on Bree and let her walk in them. While she did a good job walking in them, she wasn't happy at all and cried to be picked up right away. But just 4 months later, she was begging to go out on the ice with the boys. We put the skates on her and out she went. I walked on the ice in my shoes and she held on to the walker and really seemed to enjoy it. Next time we go, I will be better prepared.
For Finn's last day of Pre-K before the break they held the annual favorite food feast. Finn requested that I bring broccoli for his favorite food. I thought for sure that he would be the only kid with a "healthy" food but I was pleasantly surprised. There were several fruits (apples and berries) and carrots with hummus, and other things such Cheerios and Chex Mix. And of course there were cupcakes and ice cream. I made only a small bowl of broccoli because I had a feeling that no one was really going to eat it. And I was pretty much right about that. Although those who did try it commented to me on how good it was. Yep, butter and salt can make just about anything taste good.
We left for our trip to Chicago on the 20th. I pulled Kai out of school early that day so that we could get a good start. But that is a story for another post. Here are a few pictures from the first part of the month. They aren't exciting, but it is what it is.

She's such a good napper. And sooo cute, too! |

This is why I started running. After I run now, Finn asks if he can, too. I also started going to a Zumba class and he's made comments about being interested, but he's too shy to actually join in. |

Yes, it was bitter cold! |

Sunday afternoon fort building with Dad |

Finn's fingers after a shower. Reid says it takes talent to prune like that in a shower, but really it just takes CF. |

Finn finally got to go rock climbing at a real climbing gym. (with his Dad) |
