March 2017

The last 2 1/2 months have been crazy busy.  We have a good slow week and a half right now so I'd like to get this blog caught up and ready for our summer adventures.  So, here it goes.
In both February and March Bree and I manned a table at CF clinic.  Normally the first Mondays of every month Finn's doctor comes down from Denver to see the CF patients in the Springs.  There is also a smaller clinic on the 3rd Fridays where the local pulmonologist will see the CF patients and coordinate with the doctor in Denver.  My guess is that sometime in the next couple of years our Denver doctor will stop coming down and turn over her patients to the local doctor who has been working with the CF team for a couple of years now.  Anyway, what Bree and I did was sit by this table and try to talk to CF patients as they came into clinic and let them know about the walk and just try to connect.  Some days were just not successful at all and other days we recruited a couple of teams.  One of the teams we recruited in February turned into one of our top fundraising teams for the walk this year.  Yay us!

Early in March we pulled up the carpet in the boys' soon to be new bedrooms to see how bad things were.  This shows you where the slab had sunk in Finn's room.  See the gap at the back, and the large unmatched joint on the side of the picture?  That's what we needed fixed.

Early March weather was actually quite nice.  The preschool kids had a great time playing hide and seek in our trees and this picture was a massive game of tag with balls.

We had the letter W that month and so we made windsocks.

Bree just loves ice skating class.  Here she is practicing her swizzles over the cones.

My helper is cuter than yours!

Initiation into being a "Jones boy"--learning to build a computer with dad.  Our old desktop was about 9 years old so Reid built us a new one.

With the weather being so nice our grass was looking just awful.  I pulled out the sprinkler and Finn had to get in.  It was cold but he loved it!

We discovered this little girl loves cucumbers.  She ate an entire cucumber one night!  One of our favorite dinners here is a build your own salad, salad bar kind of thing.  It's easy and the kids love it.  Often Kai ends up eating chicken strips and using the ranch for dipping, but Finn and Bree love the veggies and will eat those raw.  Reid and I are the only ones who eat "salads" but my kids eat almost all of the components, just seperately.  That's what is on Bree's plate (chicken, lettuce, cucumbers).  We also will have eggs, beans, cheese, etc.  It's a fun, easy, and healthy dinner.

March is also time for Spring Break.  Unfortunately this was the start of our "Spring" break.  The Friday before school was to let out we had a blizzard, so we got an extra day of break.  Over the course of the next week we had 2 more storms and a total of about 18 inches of snow.  So much for the good weather we had been experiencing!  Spring break at our house was spent inside for the most part!

Bree and Finn got out in the snow the day after the blizzard.

Somehow all of Finn's prescriptions needed to be renewed at the same time, so I had to reorganize our med cupboard and make sure there was room for it all.  The bottom shelf and the right side of the middle shelf is all Finn's.  The top is extra supplies for all of my kids (some growth hormone kits, alcohol pads for shots, alcohol for disinfecting, extra neb kits, etc.) and the middle left is some Finn's but mostly the blue bucket which holds meds for my non-CF kids.

Finn's Aunt Kara saw this book at Costco and bought it for Finn.  The illustrations are beautiful!

We had scheduled the mudjackers to come the Friday before Spring Break, but with the blizzard they had to reschedule for earlier in the Spring Break week.  They did Finn's room first and then they worked on our front walk.  It's so nice to not have to worry about tripping out there now.

Winter storm round 2 during Spring break

One morning Finn's tummy wasn't feeling well (that's be a really long ongoing saga) and so Kai and Bree were running around him playing their game to cheer him up and make sure he was included.

Before the carpet was installed I had to finish painting the trim around the windows and the doors in the boys' new rooms.

At the last minute Kai decided he wanted a white closet.  See the paint in my hair?  This was just dang hard!  The paint stayed in my hair for weeks, despite washing it.  This coat was just the primer.  See how dark the "light beige" color of our house actually is next to the white?  The rest of our house really needs painting, too, but after this I just burnt out!

And then I got sick kids.  Uggh....it was both Finn and Bree.  This was Bree's temperature I believe.  Finn's was about 1 degree lower.

One morning I noticed all of this spotting on his face around his eye.  We are pretty sure it was broken capillaries from blowing his nose so hard.  Poor thing!
We ended Spring Break week with getting the carpet installed for the boys' new rooms and then moving them into their new bedrooms during the Saturday sessions of General Conference.  You can read all about that in a post just a couple of posts back.
