December up until Christmas Eve

In an effort to get current, this will be a photo dump.  December really was a hodge podge of things.  Parties, fun at home, etc.  Other than Christmas, there was no one real event of the month, but rather just a lot of fun family time, listening to Christmas music, and enjoying the season.

Bree loves to take Kai to the bus stop.  She would really love to go to school.  Here she put on Kai's bus pass (the lanyard), Finn's coat and backpack.  She was all ready!

Finn still loves to help in the kitchen.  His class worked together on a small recipe at school and they used plastic knives to cut some tomatoes (I think it was tomatoes) and he was convinced that they had taught he everything he needed to know about cutting.  This had made me really nervous!

I took a picture of Finn and Bree insisted I take a picture of her.  She's eating a string cheese and waiting for us to finish cooking dinner.

Poor Finn was such a champ this day (December 5th)!  His doctors had really been pushing for him to have a Nissen Fundoplication done, especially in conjunction with a G-tube.  I have been convinced for a while that reflux isn't his issue and so instead of a big surgery I requested we have a PH probe performed.  The scheduler at the hospital made this procedure sound like it wasn't a big deal (despite his doctors not feeling that we would be able to get him to do this), so I went in utterly unprepared.  This was pretty traumatic for both of us.  This tube had to go through his nose and placed correctly near his stomach.  He screamed quite a bit and said it hurt.  I can't even imagine.  I'm glad it's all over with.  The results were that he has "no significant reflux", so score some points for me!  But poor kid.  He wore this for 24 hours and then we had to go back to the hospital to get it out.

After getting out his PH probe on December 6th, we finished Christmas decorating with putting up the ornaments on the tree.

Bree is becoming an electronics addict like her brothers.  Boo!  :(

That night we went to the Live Nativity that our stake puts on every year.  It's a BIG, beautiful event.  Inside the building, the gym is decorated to the max and they display hundreds of nativity scenes from around the world.  In the primary room they had ones the kids could play with and a dress up area.  Finn dressed up and wanted a picture.

We made homemade playdough on the 8th and had some good fun.

On Tuesday the 9th we had the sister missionaries over for dinner.  I told them how Kai had this super loose tooth and I had him wiggle it for them.  They started telling him how loose it was and that it needed to come out.  He seemed overwhelmed with all the attention and did not want his tooth to fall out.  While we were distracted Kai pushed his tooth with his tongue and a second later I turned back to look at him and he was holding his tooth in his hand.  After he got over the initial shock/trauma of his first tooth falling out, he seemed to be ok with it.  (There was some crying and alone time in his room and then his dad went to talk him through it.)

Bree decided the freezing cold winter was a good time to practice taking her clothes off and on.  On the 11th, she took her shirt off and fell asleep for her nap with it in her hands.
We had our ward Christmas party on Friday the 12th and Finn was an angel for one of the primary's songs and Kai was a shephard.  They both had fun "playing" their roles and not singing.  (See Finn on the left side of this picture distracting "Joseph".)

On Saturday the 13th the boys and I dipped marshmallows for our friends again.  I made some small plates of goodies for local friends again this year and did the marshmallows like last year because they are just so quick and simple and super yummy.  We ended up eating most of this first batch and had to do it again for our goodie plates!

Ready for church on the 14th
Finn's class winter party on the 18th.  This was a crazy day.  I dropped Finn off at school that morning to find out that the class room mom had the flu and wasn't coming.  The teacher said that she had heard I was going to do the party!  I am Kai's room mom and his party was at 12:40 that day and I still had something I needed to pick up for his class.  Finn's party was to be at 11am.  So, I took off for the Springs to pick up the last minute item, and then ran back to school to see what we had for Finn's party.  After seeing what we needed I ran back out to Walmart to pick up last minute things and get Kai a Lunchable for lunch (I didn't have time to pack him one that morning) and then got back to school at 11am.  With all of the other preschool parents, Finn's class party went off without a hitch.  It was great.  Then I ran down to Kai's classroom and dropped everything off and started setting up.  I grabbed Finn and Bree and ran them home to meet the babysitter.  Put them at the table with some lunch and ran back to school in time for Kai's party.  Kai's party was AWESOME!  Clearly I'm biased as I planned it, but it was a lot of fun and I'm so glad I get the chance to be his room mom.  Anyway, in this picture Finn is standing right in front of everyone for their songs that they performed for the parents.  His teacher has told me they are having problems with Finn figuring out where to be in line, etc and this is a prime example.  He stood and walked around in front of everyone, at times with his hands in his pants.  He didn't even really sing.  Ahhhh........fun times!

Bree loves dress up and with two older brothers these are the kinds of costumes she gets to wear!  She loves it!  (December 19th)

December 20th--Bree decided that she can now put on her pants all by herself.  Don't even try to help her, she will get very angry.  I love this girl, but she is SUPER independent.  She even rocks herself to sleep now.  I'm not allowed in the chair.  My place is on the floor singing her songs while she rocks by herself.  Silly girl!
